Why should I pay for benefits mentoring when VSOs are free?
It is a fair question and one worth answering directly.
Veterans Service Organizations like the Wounded Warrior Project, DAV, VFW, and American Legion are best known for helping veterans file VA disability claims -- and they do that well. If filing or tracking a disability claim is your primary need, a VSO is a legitimate free option, and Dr. Scott
will tell you that honestly on your free Snapshot call.
If your situation requires a detailed medical records review and formal claims filing, he will refer you directly to a VSO or qualified claims professional who specializes in that work.
Where RYZUP Consulting fills a different need is in everything surrounding that process. Understanding what benefits you actually qualify for across the full VA and military benefits landscape.
Requesting and interpreting your service records. Walking through VA.gov, MilConnect, and other systems step by step until you can navigate them confidently. Building a strategy for your application before anything gets filed. These are the conversations that rarely happen inside a high-volume claims process -- and they are the ones that determine whether you walk
away with the full picture of what your service made available to you.
Dr. Scott does not take a percentage of your award. The hourly fee covers the session.

What is the Benefits Eligibility Snapshot and how is it different from a paid session?
The Benefits Eligibility Snapshot is a free 15-minute call designed to do one thing: determine whether RYZUP Consulting is the right fit for your situation before you spend a dollar.
Dr. Scott asks four questions about your service history and current benefits status. You leave knowing whether a mentoring session makes sense and what your most important next step should be.
It is not a free consultation. Specific claim questions, strategy, and detailed guidance happen in the paid mentoring session. The Snapshot is a structured qualification conversation, not a workaround.

What happens during a session? Walk me through it.
Before your session, you will receive a brief intake prompt asking about your service history and the specific benefits questions you want to address. Dr. Scott reviews this before you meet so your time is focused from the first minute.
During the session, Dr. Scott walks through your situation, identifies eligibility gaps you may not be aware of, explains the relevant VA or military benefits processes in plain language, and gives you clear guidance on next steps. Sessions are via Google Meet or Zoom.
After the session, you receive a written action summary of what was covered and what to do next so you leave with something concrete.

How many sessions will I need?
Most clients with a focused benefits question resolve their immediate goals in one to two sessions. Clients working through more complex situations -- such as an appeal, a rating increase strategy across multiple conditions, or a full benefits review for the first time -- typically find three or more sessions most useful.
Dr. Scott does not sell packages or require commitments. You book sessions when you need them and stop when your goals are met.

Can you help me navigate VA.gov or file a claim directly?
Yes. Dr. Scott uses Google Meet or Zoom screen sharing to walk you through VA.gov, MilConnect, and other VA or military portals in real time. He does not file claims on your behalf.
RYZUP Consulting is a mentoring and education service. The goal is to make sure you understand the process well enough to advocate for yourself confidently.

Do you write nexus letters or review medical records?
Dr. Scott does not write nexus letters or provide medical record reviews. However, he can help you request a copy of your Service Treatment Records (STRs), explain what a nexus letter is and why it matters for your claim, and refer you to a board-certified physician who provides that service.
